Smart suit for firefighters smartPRO obtained prize Golden Amper in Brno
Awards Gold Amper obtained the smart suit for firefighters smartPRO at 25th international trade fair AMPER in Brno yesterday. After the December victory in the international pre-commercial tender of the project Smart@Fire is this prize next award of the Czech consortium bringing together a research team from the Regional Innovation Center of Electrical Engineering (RICE) of Faculty of Electrical Engineering of University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and companies VOCHOC, Holik International, Elitronic and Applycon. Faculty of Electrical Engineering was awarded with the modular control system REMCS for the first time in 2013.
The jury particularly appreciated the fact that this special suit is equipped with sensor- and communication systems that increase an active safety of firefighters.
"The suit provides a measurement of physiological functions of firefighters and evaluates his position on a map, even in places where there is no GPS signal. For positioning is used a unique inertial navigation system, "said jury chairman Prof. Ing. Radimír Vrba. The jury was interested by more features of the smart suit.
"One of them is active lighting with automatic activation in the dark and automatic activation of alarm in case of exceeding of the seted limits. All measured data are stored in control unit of the suit during the duration of the intervention and fill the black box function. Data are also transmitted wirelessly to the commander tablet, where you can see the status of up to 12 firefighters, "said Vrba.
Exhibits are evaluated by jury of experts, for example, from the Czech Technical University in Prague, Brno University of Technology, VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava or Technical University of Košice.
