Equipment

The group has a unique laboratories. In the existing premisies of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering are several research and development laboratories - the so-called "light lab". These laboratories are equipped with modern measuring technology, top power source and load and test equipment, experiments are carried out on drives with outputs in the order of 50 kW with a maximum voltage up to 1000V.

In the near future, the group will significantly expand the laboratories. New laboratories RICE and a unique indoor laboratory testing and high-power electronics and transportation equipment are uder construction. In this new labs we will be able to develop and test equipment up to power of 4 MW  and up to 31 kVrms voltage.

MATLAB®, SIMULINK®, PLECS® a LabView®

These software tools are top level equipment for simulation and precise tune of designed algorithm. This simulation are able discover physical principle of reserched topic. These principle are used for design of control strategies that are used for fast implementation into control system.

Power semiconductor converter for research

The group use own designed power converter for the research of new control of drives and power converters. These converters are based on IGBT, IGCT, MOSFET, SiC and JFET technologies. We are able to design diferent type of converter structures (two and multilevel inverters and active rectifiers, DC-DC converter). Power converters are controled with own designed control system. Designed converter are modular and they are used for several drive structer application.

Electrical machine sets

The group has wide portfolio of electrical machine sets that are properly assembled into sets and used to test new drives for testing of advanced control algorithms. It is possible to test completely new drive in laboratory conditions and properly tune its behaviour before it is put into operation in vehicles or in industrial and power drive systems.

  • Switched reluctance motor (SRM) -  Direct current motor with separately excitation 3,5kW

Power Analyser ZES ZIMMER LMG500 + SSU4-1000

This analyser can measure voltage up to 1000 V and current up to 32 A directly on inputs. Currents up to 1000 A can be measured with precision current transducer. This measurement set is able measure very low power factors. Analyser can be completed with speed sensor for the motor torque calculation. LMG500 can be conected with the PC via USB, RS232, Ethernet a GPIB comunication. Analyser has process interface for other types of comunication. Process interface is determinated with universal analog and digital inputs outputs. It is possible control other measurement equipment with the analog signals. Custom scripts can be created and these scripts can used all standart input and outputs and process interface signals.

Frequency converter ACS 800 a ACS 880

The wall-mounted regenerative drive, ACS800-11 is equipped with active supply unit. It offers a full performance regenerative drive in a single compact package. All important features and options including an LCL line filter and EMC filter are built inside the drive.

California Instruments CSW Series

The CSW Series represents a new generation of AC/DC power sources that address the increasing demands on test equipment to perform additional functions at a lower cost. By combining a flexible AC/DC power source with a high performance power analyzer, the Compact CSW Series is capable of handling complex applications that have traditionally required multiple systems. The sleek integrated approach of the CSW avoids cable clutter that is commonly found in test systems. All connections are made internally and the need for digital multimeters, power harmonics analyzers, and current shunts or clamps is eliminated.

Agilent 6813B 

The Agilent 6813B is ideal for applications such as power supply testing, UPS testing, avionics ATE, the testing of power factor corrected equipment and devices. Set up is made easy with the Graphical User Interface, which requires no programming. The Agilent 6813B provides a complete AC and DC power and measurement solution with extensive features to protect valuable DUTs.

Save space on a lab bench or in a test rack with this flexible instrument. With the built-in power analyzer, this AC Power Source / Power Analyzer combines the capabilities of a multimeter, oscilloscope, harmonic analyzer, arbritrary waveform generator, and power analyzer all in one device. This instrument may also be used to produce DC power, either alone or as a DC offset to an AC waveform. An optional second power analyzer is available, which can be used independently from the source, or for dual-node measurements such as power supply input/output efficiency tests.

Tektronix MSO4034B

With the Tektronix MSO4034B 350 MHz, 2.5GS/s, 4+16 channel Digital Phosphor Mixed Signal Oscilloscope you can analyze up to 20 analog and digital signals with a single instrument to quickly find and diagnose problems in complex designs. Bandwidths up to 1 GHz and a minimum of 5X oversampling on all channels ensure you have the performance you need to see fast-changing signal details. To capture long windows of signal activity while maintaining fine timing resolution, the Tektronix MSO4034B offers a deep record length of 20M points standard on all channels.
